Apply to Jobs
Overview
Skillsheet includes a public job board where employers post open positions. As a candidate with a completed skillsheet, you can browse listings, express interest in roles that match your skills, and connect with recruiters — all without leaving the platform. Your verified skillsheet serves as your application, giving employers a detailed view of your qualifications from the start.
Browsing the Job Board
The job board is accessible from the main Skillsheet navigation. You do not need a completed skillsheet to browse, but you will need one to apply.
Finding the Job Board
- Sign in to Skillsheet.
- Look for the Jobs or Job Board link in the main navigation menu.
- The job board displays currently open positions posted by employers on the platform.
What You Will See
Each job listing typically includes:
- Job title — The name of the position.
- Company — The employer posting the role.
- Description — An overview of responsibilities and requirements.
- Skills and qualifications — Technologies, experience, and competencies the employer needs.
- Location — Where the role is based, or whether it is remote.
Browse at your own pace, click listings for full descriptions, and compare requirements against your own skills and experience.
How Job Listings Work
Listings are posted by recruiters and hiring managers who use Skillsheet to find talent. Each represents an active, open position at a real company. Because Skillsheet provides verified scores and detailed profiles, applying through the platform often gives you an advantage over traditional channels where your resume might not stand out.
Expressing Interest and Applying
How to Apply
- Open the job listing you are interested in.
- Click the Apply or Express Interest button.
- Your skillsheet is automatically attached — no need to upload a separate resume or fill out lengthy forms.
- You may be asked to provide a brief note to the employer explaining your interest.
- Confirm your application.
What Gets Sent to the Employer
When you apply, the employer receives your skillsheet (scores, trait analysis, highlights, professional background), any application note you included, and a link to your full profile. Your application is far more comprehensive than a traditional resume submission.
What Happens After You Apply
Once you submit an application, it enters the recruiter’s hiring pipeline. Here are the typical stages:
- Submitted — Your application has been received but not yet reviewed.
- Under Review — The recruiter is evaluating your skillsheet and profile against the role requirements.
- Shortlisted — You have been identified as a strong candidate and the recruiter may prepare to reach out.
- Interview / Next Steps — The recruiter wants to move forward, typically with a follow-up conversation, phone screen, or formal interview.
- Closed — The application reached a final state because the role was filled, you were not selected, or the position was closed.
Not every recruiter uses every stage, and labels may vary. The key takeaway is that your application moves through a structured review process.
Tracking Your Application Status
- Sign in to Skillsheet.
- Navigate to your dashboard or applications section.
- View positions you have applied to along with the current status of each.
Check back regularly for updates, and look for email or in-app notifications when your status changes. Do not wait for a response from one employer before applying to other relevant positions.
Getting Contacted by Recruiters
If an employer is interested, they may reach out through the platform.
How You Will Be Notified
- Email notification — An email lets you know a recruiter has expressed interest or sent a message.
- Platform notification — You may see notifications within Skillsheet when you sign in.
Responding to Recruiters
- Check your messages — Look for messages or notifications from employers after signing in.
- Respond promptly — Aim to reply within a day or two to show professionalism and genuine interest.
- Ask questions — Do not hesitate to learn more about the role or company before moving forward.
If a recruiter wants to proceed, next steps typically involve a follow-up conversation, formal interview with the hiring team, or additional assessments. Your skillsheet has already provided a strong foundation, so these conversations often move quickly.
Tips for Improving Your Chances
Optimize Your Skillsheet
- Maximize your scores — Consider retaking the interview after reviewing your growth areas and transcript.
- Update your resume — Reflect your latest skills and accomplishments before taking or retaking the interview.
- Emphasize relevant experience — During the interview, highlight experience that aligns with the types of roles you want.
Apply Strategically
- Focus on fit — Apply where your skills genuinely match the requirements. Targeted applications beat mass applying.
- Read the full description — Understand what the employer needs before you apply.
- Personalize your note — Mention why you are specifically interested in that role or company.
Be Responsive and Professional
- Reply quickly to recruiter messages to signal genuine interest.
- Keep your profile current — An up-to-date skillsheet shows active career engagement.
- Share your skillsheet broadly — Post it on LinkedIn, your resume, and your email signature so recruiters find you organically.
Common Questions
Do I need a completed interview to apply?
A completed skillsheet with interview results is strongly recommended. Employers rely on your scores to evaluate candidates, so a profile without results will be at a disadvantage.
Can I withdraw an application?
Check the applications section of your account for options to manage or withdraw submitted applications.
Will employers see all my information?
Employers see the information on your public skillsheet — scores, trait analysis, highlights, and background. They do not see your raw interview recording or personal email address.
How many jobs can I apply to?
There is no limit. Apply to as many relevant roles as you like.
