Manage Your Account

Overview

Your Skillsheet account is your home base for managing your professional profile, interview history, and personal preferences. This guide covers how to update your profile, manage email preferences, take additional interviews, verify your identity, and understand your data privacy and security options.

Accessing Account Settings

  1. Sign in to Skillsheet using your email magic link.
  2. Look for your profile icon or account menu in the top navigation bar.
  3. Click it to access your Account Settings page.

Updating Your Profile

Name

To correct or change the name displayed on your skillsheet:

  1. Navigate to your account settings and find the Name or Profile section.
  2. Update your first name and last name.
  3. Save your changes. Your updated name will appear on your public skillsheet.

Avatar

You can add or change a profile photo to make your skillsheet more recognizable:

  1. Navigate to your account settings or profile page.
  2. Look for the Avatar or Profile Photo section.
  3. Click Upload or Change Photo and select an image from your device.
  4. Save your changes. A professional headshot is recommended.

Skillsheet Name and URL

Your skillsheet name (the part that forms your public URL) is set during profile creation. Changing it can break links you have already shared with recruiters. If you need to change it, check your settings for an edit option, but proceed carefully.

Updating Your Resume

Upload a new resume at any time by going to your skillsheet page, clicking Upload Resume or Replace Resume, and selecting a PDF or Word (.docx) file. The platform will re-parse it to extract updated skills and experience. If you take a new interview afterward, the AI will use the latest version.

Email Preferences and Notifications

Skillsheet may send you emails for account activity, interview results, recruiter messages, and job board updates.

Types of Emails

  • Sign-in magic links — Sent every time you sign in. Cannot be disabled.
  • Interview results — Notifications when your results are ready.
  • Recruiter messages — Alerts when an employer views your profile or sends a message.
  • Job recommendations — Emails about new listings that match your profile.
  • Platform updates — Announcements about new features.

Managing Settings

Navigate to Account Settings, find the Email Preferences or Notifications section, and toggle categories on or off. We recommend keeping recruiter message notifications enabled so you do not miss opportunities.

Taking Multiple Interviews

Your account supports taking additional interviews over time to improve scores or refresh your profile.

Creating Additional Skillsheets

If the platform supports it, you may create additional skillsheets to showcase different aspects of your background. Each skillsheet has its own URL and results, which is useful for exploring different career paths.

Retaking Your Interview

  1. Navigate to your skillsheet page and look for a Retake Interview or Start New Interview option.
  2. Follow the same process as your original interview.
  3. New results replace the previous ones on that skillsheet.

Before retaking, update your resume if your experience has changed, and review your previous growth areas and transcript to focus your preparation.

Identity Verification

Skillsheet offers optional identity verification powered by Persona, a trusted third-party service. A verified badge on your profile signals to recruiters that your identity is confirmed.

How to Verify

  1. Navigate to Account Settings and find the Identity Verification section.
  2. Click Start Verification.
  3. Follow Persona’s flow: upload a government-issued ID (driver’s license, passport, etc.), take a selfie for facial matching, and confirm your details.
  4. Verification typically completes within a few minutes.

Benefits

  • Verified badge on your public skillsheet.
  • Increased recruiter trust — reduces the risk of fraudulent profiles.
  • Competitive advantage — verified profiles stand out as more credible.

Persona handles verification securely. Skillsheet receives only a verified/not-verified status and does not store copies of your ID. Verification is entirely optional.

Data Privacy and What Skillsheet Stores

What Is Stored

  • Account information — Email address, name, and avatar.
  • Resume — The uploaded file and parsed content.
  • Interview recording — Audio and video from your AI interview.
  • Transcript — Text transcription of your conversation.
  • Scores and analysis — Evaluated scores, trait analysis, highlights, strengths, and growth areas.
  • Application history — Jobs applied to and recruiter messages.
  • Verification status — Whether you completed identity verification.

Your Privacy Rights

You can access all your data through your profile and settings pages, correct your name, avatar, resume, and other information at any time, and request deletion of your account and all associated data.

Requesting Data Deletion

  1. Navigate to Account Settings.
  2. Look for Delete Account or Data Deletion.
  3. Follow the prompts to confirm.
  4. Your account, skillsheet, interview data, and application history will be permanently removed.

Important: Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Your public URL will stop working and all submitted applications will be removed.

Account Security

Skillsheet uses magic link authentication, which means there are no passwords associated with your account.

How It Works

When you sign in, you enter your email address and receive a one-time link. Click the link to be signed in automatically. The link expires after a short period and can only be used once.

Security Benefits

  • No passwords to steal — Your account cannot be compromised through password breaches or weak passwords.
  • No password reuse risk — No need to worry about using the same password across sites.
  • Email-based security — Your account is as secure as your email account.

Keeping Your Account Secure

  • Protect your email — Use a strong password and two-factor authentication on your email provider.
  • Do not share magic links — Sign-in links are for you only.
  • Sign out on shared devices — Always sign out on public or shared computers.
  • Watch for unsolicited magic links — If you receive one you did not request, do not click it.
